As a tourist attraction, The Center will be an extremely significant economic driver for the region. The Kentucky Tourism, Arts & Heritage Cabinet has defined nine tourism regions within the state. The Center will operate in the Daniel Boone Country Region. In 2013, this 18-county region generated tourism and tourism related expenditures of $481 million. In the fifth year of operation, The Center will generate $124 million in expenditures and will have generated over $442 million during those first five years.

The Daniel Boone Country Region experienced a net loss in tourism generated employment in 2013, with direct regional tourism jobs dropping to 7,545, a loss of 69 jobs. The center will generate 2,018 new jobs in the region during the first five years of operation.

These results have been forecast based upon the daily tourist spending levels utilized by the Kentucky Tourism, Arts & Heritage Cabinet. The direct and indirect expenditures incorporated into the forecast were calculated using the RIMS II input-output (I-O) model developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis. The attendance forecast is based on the actual attendance being achieved by The Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette, PA. Following is a summary of The Center's anticipated economic impact.

The veracity of this forecast derives from the tourism spending levels and job creation models currently utilized by the Kentucky Tourism, Arts & Heritage Cabinet; the economic impact forecasting model developed and currently used by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis; and, the current attendance results from the operating facility in Benezette, PA.
