Public Access for Recreation

The Appalachian Wildlife Foundation has extensive experience in working to expand public access to private lands for hunting and other outdoor recreation. Millions of acres of land in Appalachia are in corporate ownership. These companies include Timber Investment Management Organizations, Real Estate Investment Trusts, Family Trusts, publicly traded corporations, privately held corporations and coal mining companies.

We have a long track record of working to expand public access opportunities on these lands for hunting and other outdoor recreation. Our efforts have included everything from supporting legislation to reduce liability exposure for private landowners to actually brokering formal access agreements between the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and private landowners.
